Here you’ll see fishermen unloading their catch of the day, much as they have for the past 350 years, making this America’s oldest seaport. Then it’s just a matter of steps to board our boat, which takes us for the afternoon on a true nature trip- whale watching. The vessel is a modern and comfortable 108’ boat, with multiple level decks, so everyone has plenty of space along the rails. There’s a large interior cabin with seating and tables, complete with a full galley and restrooms. It’s a quick jaunt our to Stellwagen Bank and Jeffrey’s Ledge, two of North America’s most important feeding areas for whales. Chances are great that we’ll spot various species of whales, along with dolphins, seals, and sharks. Onboard is a marine biologist who will explain what we are seeing.

DOWNEAST MAINE LOBSTER BAKE & LOBSTER BOAT CRUISE
Saturday, August 17, Perkins Cove, ME
It's a short ride about our motor coach before we arrive in Perkins Cove, nestled with southern Maine's rocky coastline. Listen to the gulls and bell buoys as you treat yourself to a lobster bake complete with all the fixin's (there are alternatives to lobster). Get a firsthand lobstering experience while sailing aboard a lobster boat where you will see traps hauled and lobsters caught by authentic Maine lobstermen. A guide will provide a detailed explanation of the lobster fishery and the many scenic points along the coastline. When back on land there is the opportunity to explore one of the loveliest harbors on the Maine coast and its myriad of galleries, shops, and boutiques which are all within sight and sound of the ocean. Stroll the Marginal Way, a paved footpath that meanders along the water's edge. Relax on a bench and absorb the humbling views of the might Atlantic Ocean. We will also make a stop at the Nubble Lighthouse. There is no access to the lighthouse itself, but the views from our vantage point are spectacular.
NOTE: Buses are prohibited to travel in Perkins Cove, so it will be necessary to disembark in a nearby lot. The walk to and from the restaurant, cruise, shops, and Marginal Way is about a quarter of a mile along level ground.
